Industrial Welder/Fitter Location: 531 Old Swede Road – Douglassville, Pennsylvania 19518 Department: Manufacturing Compensation: Competitive starting hourly rate based on qualifications and experience. Work Schedule: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, OT hours as available. Work Environment: Industrial shop environment of welding and fabrication. About the Role American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is looking for an experienced Welder to join our manufacturing team. The role involves fabricating, assembling, and welding structural steel components to high quality standards while maintaining a safe, organized workspace. Responsibilities Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components prior to welding. Accurately align, clamp, and tack components to meet blueprint and tolerance requirements. Verify dimensions, squareness, and fit‑up using measuring tools. Perform minor rework (grinding, torching, adjusting) to ensure proper fit‑up before final weld. Work closely with welders and supervisors to ensure assemblies meet quality and design specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Fabricate and assemble structural and machine components. Perform SMAW (stick), FCAW (flux core), and GTAW (TIG) welding processes. Adjust and set welding equipment properly. Produce quality welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace. Engage in cross‑training and continuous development to stay current in the field. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience in industrial welding and structural fitting in a manufacturing environment. Hands‑on experience performing layout, fit‑up, and assembly of structural steel components prior to welding. Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Strong understanding of tolerances, alignment, and structural assembly sequencing. Experience with large weldments, heavy plate, and fabricated assemblies. Key Skills & Attributes Fitting‑first mindset – able to independently lay out, align, clamp, and tack components to spec before welding. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to verify dimensions with measuring tools. Ability to identify and correct fit‑up issues through grinding, torching, or adjustment prior to final weld. Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety. Reliable, accountable, and consistent in attendance and performance. Strong teamwork and communication skills in a production environment. Aligned with ACECO’s core values: Work Hard, Have Fun, and Do the Right Thing. Requirements Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Authority to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9).
