Position Summary The NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) promotes prevention and control of healthcare‑associated infections in North Carolina and beyond by providing evidence based infection control education and consultation across the healthcare spectrum throughout the state. SPICE will be responsible for conducting infection control assessments for a variety of healthcare settings to identify infection prevention gaps. The primary purpose of this Infection Preventionist is to collect, assess, measure and analyze the ability of hospitals, nursing homes, and ambulatory care clinics to prevent and manage healthcare‑associated infections and outbreaks of emerging and re‑emerging infectious diseases. This position will assist with addressing gaps in infection prevention practices in a variety of healthcare facilities, develop infection prevention guidance targeted to all healthcare facilities, and facilitate more robust healthcare readiness for high consequence infectious disease threats including SARS‑CoV‑2. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent). For candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience may be accepted in substitution. Terminal degree and licensure may be required. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Demonstrated familiarity with infection prevention guidelines and standards. Certified in Infection Control (CIC). Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Ability to communicate effectively with minimal supervision. Demonstrated extensive knowledge of infection prevention. Previous experience providing instruction to nursing and medical staff on disease processes, infection prevention techniques, and best practices highly desired. Previous public speaking experience also preferred. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities Not Applicable.
