Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Department of Finance Enterprise Architect (Information Technology Manager II), the Information Technology Manager I (Special Projects) will manage the Enterprise Architecture Special Project Team and the Department of Finances Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise Tenant and other Software as a Service environments. The incumbent to this position will manage and oversee a team of Information Technology Specialists (e.g., Information Technology Specialist II, Information Technology Specialist I, and Associate Information Technology Specialist) on various cloud technologies platforms for the Department of Finances Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) workloads and systems (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook, etc.) and Finances cloud backup system (e.g., Cohesity Data Protect).

The Information Technology Manager I incumbent will have a strong knowledge and understanding of cloud computing technology (e.g., PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS), must demonstrate excellent project management skills, have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, have the ability to discern and execute State of California information technology policies and procedures, advise, communicate effectively to executive management and co-management team, and mentor, and motivate staff, and have a cooperative working relationship with management, team members, and business customers. The incumbent must possess strong organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills; works independently and in a team environment; participates in meetings, provides status reports, and completes work assignments, delegate and assign tasks and projects and keep up with information technology trends, standards, and practices related to cloud computing technology and security.

Special Requirements

Finance has implemented a hybrid telework model, which requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of two days during the workweek. The hybrid policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required at management's discretion or based on operational needs.
