JOB SUMMARY The Information Technology Manager is responsible for the daily leadership, operation, and supervision of the Information Technology Department. This role manages IT staff, systems, vendors, and service delivery to ensure reliable, secure, and effective technology operations across the organization. The IT Manager serves as the primary operational lead for information technology and is designated to assume the full duties and authority of the Information Technology Director in the Director’s absence or if the position is vacant, ensuring continuity of operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Oversees daily IT operations, including networks, servers, systems, hardware, software, cybersecurity controls, and end-user support. Supervises IT staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, work assignment, performance monitoring, and evaluation. Directly supervises the Information Technology Technician. Implements IT strategies, standards, policies, and directives established by the Information Technology Director. Coordinates and oversees technology installations, upgrades, maintenance, and system improvements. Monitors system performance, reliability, and security; identifies issues and implements corrective actions. Manages help desk operations, ticket prioritization, escalation, and service delivery standards. Maintains system documentation, asset inventories, procedures, and operational records. Manages vendor relationships, service providers, maintenance contracts, and third-party support. Evaluates technology needs and recommends hardware, software, and service solutions. Participates in IT budget planning and monitors operational expenditures. Develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity procedures, and reports results to the Information Technology Director. Ensures system configurations, procedures, and operational knowledge are documented and maintained. Coordinates and executes periodic security reviews, access reviews, and patch management activities. Provides technical guidance, leadership, and customer service to departments and staff. Stays current with technology trends and recommends operational improvements. Performs other related duties as assigned. In the absence of the Information Technology Director, or if the position is vacant, the Information Technology Manager assumes the duties, authority, and responsibilities of the IT Director to ensure continuity of IT operations. This includes operational decision-making, vendor oversight, security response coordination, and leadership of the IT Department, subject to approvals reserved to the Tribal Administrator by policy. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in an IT environment. Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure, systems, and end-user support. Experience overseeing vendors, contracts, and technology projects. Strong working knowledge of network administration, systems security, and IT operations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to operate with discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment. Ability to translate technical issues into practical solutions for non-technical users. Tribal members who are not Chukchansi will receive Indian preference by awarding five additional points (6.7% of the total allotted points).
