Information Technology Specialist (APPSW)

Duties The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. The work of this position includes several areas of assignment that support the design, modification, testing, debugging, and maintenance of software applications that support the business activities and/or processes of the IRS. Specific assignments include many of the following: Provides technical guidance in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining programs. Translates and interprets functional requirements. Applies computer assisted software engineering (CASE) tools to the design and development process. Tests, installs, implements, documents, and maintains software. Provides guidance to less experienced coworkers in solving programming problems.
