Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Deputy Secretary of State, HAVA Director, and within the Office of Voting Systems Technology and Assessment (OVSTA), the incumbent will demonstrate a depth of leadership and expertise in all areas of voting technology examination, testing, and certification. The incumbent supervises various tasks that OVSTA oversees. Voting technologies include voting systems, electronic poll books, Remote Accessible Vote by Mail Systems (RAVBMS), ballot on demand, and other election related emerging technologies.
Desirable Qualifications: In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Excellent leadership skills, including leading technical IT staff to successful outcomes.
- Experience in effective planning, organizing, and prioritizing multiple workloads and delivering timely results in fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate performance encouraging positive relations, creating high job satisfaction, encouraging success while being trusting and supportive.
- Demonstrate ability to cultivate working relationships with diverse business, technical and vendor customers as well as providing quality enterprise communication.
- Good understanding of the technical and strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Innovative, forward-thinking individual.
- Knowledge of IT project management practices and techniques.
- Ability to oversee the research, problem solve, and troubleshoot the most challenging technical issues.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, integrity, and flexibility.
- Experience with election related technologies.
- Experience with the testing and review of hardware or software.
