Job Description

TECHEAD is celebrating over thirty-five years of incredible heritage, talent, and accomplishments! To learn more about TECHEAD, visit us at or on Glassdoor.

As an IT Systems Administrator you will be the backbone of technical operations for a 250-user Civil Engineering (CE) environment. You’ll balance hands-on systems maintenance with high-level cybersecurity compliance, ensuring that mission-critical applications—from AutoCAD to ArcGIS—remain secure, licensed, and operational.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration & Operations

  • Infrastructure Management: Configure and maintain servers, workstations, and peripherals for ~250 users to ensure maximum uptime and network availability.
  • Specialized Application Support: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for a suite of Civil Engineering tools, including ACES, AutoCAD, NexgenIT/TRIRIGA, ArcGIS, and E4Clicks.
  • Lifecycle Maintenance: Execute routine backups, data archiving, and software updates. Monitor system advisories and "heads-up" messages to preempt operational hurdles.
  • Strategic Planning: Periodically assess the organization's hardware and software needs to recommend resource upgrades and technology shifts.

Cybersecurity & ISSO Duties

  • IA Program Leadership: Supervise the Information Assurance (IA) program, enforcing Air Force policies and collaborating with the Wing Cyber Security Office (WCSO).
  • Access Control: Verify security clearances and "need-to-know" authorizations for all users before granting system access.
  • Risk Management (RMF): Develop and maintain Certification & Accreditation (C&A) documentation. Lead the implementation of software patches, security fixes, and vulnerability reporting.
  • Compliance Training: Facilitate initial and annual IA refresher training to ensure all personnel are aware of their security responsibilities.

Software License & Asset Management

  • Compliance Oversight: Manage the unit’s software lifecycle—from procurement and installation to inventory and disposal—ensuring 100% compliance with AF regulations.
  • Audit Readiness: Conduct annual software audits, cross-referencing installed instances against licenses, and maintaining the master inventory database.
  • Reporting: Prepare and update MICT Communicators for government validation and approval.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Operating Systems: Expert-level proficiency in Windows 10 and 11.
  • Software: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel power-user preferred) and familiarity with CE-specific applications (ArcGIS, TRIRIGA, etc.).
  • Hardware: Hands-on experience identifying and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.

Education & Certifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of relevant IT/Systems Admin experience.
  • Education: High School Diploma (minimum).
  • Certification: Active DoD 8140 compliant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).

Core Competencies

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required.
  • Communication: Strong ability to translate technical jargon into clear guidance for end-users and leadership.
  • Problem-Solving: A "firefighter" mindset—the ability to resolve complex system issues quickly and efficiently.
