Job Title: Injury Prevention Specialist (Athletic Trainer – ATC)
Location: New Haven, CT
Reports To: Site Safety Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking Health and Safety professionals with a background in Athletic Training (ATC) to support an onsite Injury Prevention Program within a warehouse environment. As part of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Team, the Injury Prevention Specialist (IPS) will perform both injury prevention and injury management (first aid) activities.
The IPS will analyze tasks for ergonomic and safety risks, perform biomechanical and ergonomic assessments, provide first aid care, and proactively educate employees on safe work practices. This role requires frequent interaction with associates on the warehouse floor, focusing on early intervention, injury prevention, and continuous improvement of safe work techniques.
Key Responsibilities

Provide triage, first aid, and referrals to outside medical providers as needed.

Maintain accurate records of all first aid care provided.

Minimize workplace injury risks through awareness, education, and intervention programs.

Lead daily stretching routines and provide safety coaching during “start-up” meetings.

Learn each department’s functions and communicate proper techniques to prevent soft tissue injuries.

Evaluate injury trends and develop corrective action plans to address risks.

Deliver daily activity logs and monthly incident analyses with recommendations for injury reduction.

Provide accommodation recommendations for employees on medical restrictions.

Collaborate on process improvements to reduce ergonomic stressors.

Maintain strong floor presence, observing work habits and coaching associates/managers on safer techniques.
Required Qualifications

Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) – National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) or equivalent state certification.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Current CPR certification (American Heart Association – Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross – Professional Rescuer).

Must maintain all required medical credentials.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an occupational or industrial setting.

Certification to teach First Aid, CPR, AED training.

Experience with industrial wellness programs.

Familiarity with Worker’s Compensation processes.

Previous leadership or team management experience.
Work Environment

Warehouse setting with frequent interaction on the floor.

Must be comfortable performing physical observations and demonstrations related to injury prevention.
