Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) -?Spine Program - InpatientFull TimeUniversity of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care to patients presenting on our In-patient Orthopaedic Service.The NP/PA performs examination, evaluation, assessment and interpretation of clinical data to provide care to the patients undergoing surgical treatment for bone fractures, degenerative joint diseases, osteomyelitis, and spinal procedures. Professional practice is in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Our Department of Orthopaedics serves as a referral center for patients in Maryland and beyond.Primary?Responsibilities:Interview patients for health history and perform physical examinationOrder and evaluate appropriate diagnostic and laboratory testsDocument H & P, progress notes, and treatment plansAct as liaison between patients and physicians to coordinate recommended?patient care as well as?pre- and post-operative care.Participate in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement meetingsWhat You Need to Be Successful:Education/Training?- Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Bachelor's degree required?OR?a Master of Science degree, with completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program.Experience?- Experience is preferred, but not necessary. New graduates are welcome to apply.License/Certification?- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification. Current license with the Maryland Board of Physicians. OR?Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Nursing, and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of specializationMust have CRNP - Acute Care or PA-C licenseWork ExperienceAcute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license for the State of Maryland
