Installation TechnicianPosition Overview

The Installation/ Upfitter Technician is responsible for converting brand-new vehicles into fully equipped police and emergency response units. This role requires advanced mechanical and electrical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install all equipment required to upfit vehicles for police and emergency use
  • Route, install, and terminate wiring harnesses, controllers, light bars, consoles, partitions, push bumpers, camera and radar systems, power supplies, and related components
  • Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles according to build specifications
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics with minimal supervision
  • Perform advanced installations using industry-standard upfitter equipment and components
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records
  • Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, workflow, and build quality
  • Work collaboratively while following safety and quality standards
  • Attend required meetings
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of automotive electrical systems experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a police or emergency vehicle upfitter technician
  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid Texas driver's license

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Positive attitude and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

  • Must pass an extensive background check

Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Automotive Technician certification or mechanics license

  • EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification

Compensation & Benefits
  • $25-30 per flag hour based on actual upfitting time per vehicle

  • Relocation assistance available on a case-by-case basis
