Position Description:

The Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM) is seeking a talented and highly skilled Instructional Technologist/IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic technology team. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this role will empower faculty, staff, and students by conducting workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions to enhance their proficiency with OCOM’s technology tools. The Instructional Technologist/IT Support Specialist will primarily work with Google Workspace, Zoom, Apple devices (iPads and Apple TVs), and other educational technologies to provide top-notch support while ensuring a seamless and engaging digital experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workshop and Seminar Facilitation: Develop and conduct workshops, training sessions, and seminars to ensure faculty, staff, and students are proficient with technology tools, including Google Workspace, Zoom, and Apple devices.
  • 1:1 Technology Support: Provide one-on-one guidance to help employees and students maximize technology use for productivity and learning. Assist end-users by addressing technical issues and resolving support inquiries within the scope of the job description.
  • Technology Integration in Learning: Leverage skills in emerging technologies and innovative technologies (AR, AI, VR) to enhance digital education and engage users in new learning methods.
  • Instructional Support: Create and manage instructional material, including how-tos, best practices, and general methodologies/guidance to students and employees.
  • Technology Awareness: Keep the OCOM community informed about new features, best practices, and updates on digital tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the IT team to align training initiatives with institutional technology goals.
  • Strategize with the Director of Information Technology to meet technology goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment, including researching new ways of accomplishing tasks, participating in training sessions, being a self-starter and team player, and willing to assist in other areas as needed.
  • Uphold and abide by OCOM policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is required. A graduate degree or advanced certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in higher education, focusing on technology support, workshop facilitation, and instructional design.
  • Proven experience with Google Workspace, Zoom, Apple device management, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills, passionate about teaching and empowering users.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in creating accessible instructional materials and conducting engaging group presentations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must be local to the Central Florida area or willing to relocate at your own expense.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
