DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Instructor for the Division of Business Services, Office of Professional Development (OPD) supporting the Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS). This position is responsible for instructor-led training throughout the State, which includes delivering in-person and virtual training, facilitating development activities, and ensuring the quality of training delivery and materials being presented. The Instructor provides mentoring and coaching to staff as necessary, coordinating with business partners and customers to meet organizational training needs.

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (one day every two weeks in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates meetings, workshops, and other synchronous learning and development; and provides reports on training delivery (student evaluations, attendance).
  • Gathers and prepares to present training classes including learning new materials, travels to and set up classes; and attends Train the Trainer workshops.
  • Performs routine administrative tasks involving status reports, project plans, and correspondence.
  • Attends training, meetings, professional development classes, and workshops; and serves on committees, teams, and workgroups.

Knowledge In

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Computers, Google G-mail and Calendar, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Adult Learning principles.
  • Federal and State laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Basic working knowledge of training-related technologies, such as learning management systems and survey instruments.

Selective Preference(s)

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an applicable subject area, such as Human Resources Development, Adult Education, Psychology, English, or a similar field.
  • One year of experience training adult learners as a full-time trainer responsible for instruction and group/team facilitation.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
  • Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
