Position Description:

Instructor Term-Department of Emergency Medicine

Fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound (EUS)

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine seeks a highly motivated emergency medicine residency-trained, Board Prepared/ABEM/AOBEM physician for a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound (EUS). The fellowship is a 12-month position as a EUS fellow and clinical instructor. A Kentucky medical license and hospital credentialing with medical staff privileges are requirements prior to the start date.

The fellowship will provide the skills and knowledge to become an ultrasound program director and a leader in the field of Emergency Ultrasound.
  • Fellow will have >1000 solo ultrasound exams with all 11 core applications
  • QA involvement and expertise
  • Work <20 hours a week on emergency medicine clinical shifts
  • At least 5 scanning shifts monthly
  • At least 20 hours of teaching per month
  • Weekly EM and EUF-specific didactics
  • Research shifts and research requirements
  • National meeting and presentation
Faculty group of 20+ at large academic Level 1, 400-bed trauma center (around 60,000 visits/year). Three-year residency program with 36 residents. Ultrasound, EMS, and International Medicine are a few of our specialty areas. This Level 1, Certified Stroke Center, the acute-care tertiary facility provides a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic, emergency, and surgical services, including an adult burn unit.
