Chief Purpose of this position

The Department of Health Administration in the College of Health Professions is seeking a colleague to lead andcollaborate in research and scholarship, participate in service to the department and the university, and contribute to leadership in theprofession.

Position Responsibilities

  • Teaching: The faculty member may have teachingresponsibilities in the areas of healthcare management, strategy, organizational studies, finance, health information systems, dataanalytics & decision making, operations management,quality, or other related fields. Teaching responsibilities also include mentoringdoctoral students, and potential doctoral level courses as needed.
  • Research: The faculty member must establish anationally recognized research program with a record of publication in refereed journals. They are expected to develop interdisciplinarycollaborations to enhance health services research at VCU.
  • Service: The faculty member will serve on thedepartmental, College, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer,conference organizer, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D., or a terminal degree with researchexperience, in a discipline that would prepare the candidate to help meet the department's teaching and research needs. Relevant disciplinesinclude, health policy and management, economics, finance,public administration, sociology, health informatics, health analytics,operations management, information systems, or a related field.
  • Junior faculty members will be required to have an establishedresearch agenda and potential for external funding, and potential for scholarship to complement and expand existing expertise in thedepartment.
  • Senior faculty members will be required to have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence ofmulti-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in thedepartment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to doso as a faculty member at VCU.

PreferredQualifications

  • Teaching experience at the graduatelevel.
  • Record of external funding.
  • Ability to teach health information systems, health analytics & decision-making,operations management.
