How You’ll Make an Impact As an Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing electrical and instrumentation solutions that support reliable, safe, and efficient operation across our Deer Park facility. You will apply deep technical expertise in electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls—while driving design compliance, leading project execution, and collaborating closely with cross‑functional partners. This role requires strong problem‑solving abilities, exceptional technical competency, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while remaining aligned with site leadership and project teams. In this role, you will: Provide SME‑level knowledge in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems design. Develop and review detailed technical specifications, diagrams, documentation, and engineering packages. Specify and source instruments, sensors, equipment, and materials with safety and compliance as top priorities. Drive energy‑efficient and sustainability‑focused design principles. Lead and troubleshoot complex technical challenges across electrical/instrumentation and automation systems. Oversee installation, configuration, commissioning, calibration, and performance testing of E&I systems. Ensure successful integration of new E&I systems with existing technologies and site infrastructure. Conduct and participate in risk assessments while implementing strong safety protocols. Lead design compliance for complex or higher‑value projects within the Deer Park organization. Perform and review programming/configuration of equipment as required. Identify optimization opportunities and drive enhancements to improve system reliability and performance. Maintain comprehensive documentation including specifications, manuals, test records, and maintenance materials. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulations, and internal procedures. Effectively collaborate with project managers, engineers, technicians, stakeholders, contractors, and leadership. Participate in instrument testing and user acceptance testing. Represent Lubrizol in internal and external industry forums as an E&I subject matter expert. Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Mentor and coach others, serving as a technical resource within the organization. Demonstrate a strong safety mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Operate effectively in both office and plant environments, including navigating the Deer Park facility in required PPE. Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 5+ years of experience as an Electrical or Instrumentation Engineer in an industrial setting. Proven experience owning engineering design through construction, commissioning, and handover. Strong knowledge of applicable design standards, codes, and RAGAGEP. Experience working across multiple cross‑functional project teams with responsibility for E&I design on higher‑value or more complex projects. Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD. Familiarity with automation technologies including PLCs, SCADA, DCS (Emerson DeltaV), SIS, and HMI. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward Experience in chemical processing or related facilities. Professional certifications (e.g., PE license or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Experience representing organizations in technical forums or industry groups.
