Instrumentation and Control Design Engineer Apply
Overview: This position is part of the I&C Design Engineering Organization and serves as the Responsible Engineer (RE) for assigned projects. As a technical lead, the individual will coordinate cross-functional efforts, ensuring the successful delivery of complex engineering solutions. This is a Subject Matter Expert (SME)-level role requiring a high degree of technical proficiency, leadership, and independence.Key Responsibilities:Serve as the technical lead for I&C projects, managing coordination with internal departments and external vendors.Provide expert-level engineering support in identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues related to I&C systems.Lead the planning, scheduling, estimating, and monitoring of engineering tasks to meet business goals.Develop and review engineering design packages, including specifications, calculations, reports, and modifications.Support the full project lifecycle from conceptual design and vendor coordination to implementation and technical support.Ensure compliance with cyber security requirements per NRC 10 CFR 73.54 for digital systems.Participate in system upgrades involving large-scale digital control systems, standalone I&C systems, and traditional designs.Maintain subject matter expertise relevant to the team's project portfolio.Strive for continuous improvement in technical and professional competencies.Qualifications:Basic:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.10+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear industry.Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (includes background checks, fitness for duty, and required training).Strong communication skills and experience working in collaborative, cross-disciplinary teams.Proficiency in analyzing design issues, evaluating alternatives, and developing sound engineering recommendations.Preferred:Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).Experience with digital hardware/software modifications and system testing.Prior qualification as a Modification Engineer under an INPO-accredited program.Familiarity with the Brunswick Nuclear Plant and its systems.Experience with digital licensing requirements and 10 CFR 50.59 process.Working knowledge of software tools like Passport or Nuclear Asset Suite for design and work order development.Background in plant operations is a plus.
