Job Summary:

The Intake Specialist is responsible for handling the intake process with all new admissions, performing biopsychosocial assessments, as well as being included on the Admissions Department on-call rotation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessment of all new patients; interview and evaluate patients and family members
  • Work directly with prospective patients and family members
  • Complete all intake documents and patient assessments to include biopsychosocial
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, including the initial treatment plan, the recording of progress notes and the provision of continuity of care
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Perform urinalysis with patients as needed
  • Prepare eligibility and benefits for new patients through insurance and 3rd party payers
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, and comply with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies
  • Attend and participate in staff development programs, department related conferences, and administrative meetings
  • Establish and maintain appropriate network of professional contacts
  • Work with Business Development team on referral outreach
  • Participate in on-call rotation for admission calls
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of Substance Abuse in an agency setting required
  • Experience with insurance benefits preferred
  • Experience working with patient families preferred
  • Understanding of diagnosis codes preferred
  • Experience with EMR system preferred
  • Experience with CMR system preferred

License/Certification:

  • Valid CSC-AD, CAC-AD, or ADT required
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Narcan training certification preferred
