Do you have a passion for building reliable, scalable integrations while mentoring and leading a team of expert engineers? If so, join our growing team and help revolutionize the way cancer care is delivered.
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Integration Engineer Lead to lead our interface and data integration team. In this role, you will be responsible for both hands‑on development and technical leadership, overseeing the design, development, monitoring, and support of complex healthcare integrations. You will guide a team of integration engineers while working directly with industry‑standard protocols such as HL7, FHIR, and RESTful APIs to solve complex data exchange challenges across EMRs and third‑party systems.
This role is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise in integration engines (preferably Mirth or Iguana), healthcare interoperability standards, and scripting, combined with a passion for mentoring, process improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis, design, development, deployment, and support of data integrations with EMRs and ancillary systems
- Serve as the technical leader and escalation point for interface‑related design and production issues
- Build, modernize, and maintain data pipelines using JavaScript and Mirth (or similar integration engines)
- Interpret and implement HL7 interface specifications and EMR integration requirements
- Design and develop data exchange workflows using HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, JSON/XML, and RESTful APIs
- Translate clinical and business requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions
- Perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) activities and manage complex data mappings (HL7, CCD/CCDA)
- Troubleshoot and resolve interface issues to maintain system stability, performance, and data accuracy
- Monitor interface health, proactively identify issues, and improve operational reliability
- Ensure integrations meet security, compliance (HIPAA), and SLA requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams (Product, QA, DevOps, Support) and external partners
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code/design reviews for integration engineers
- Plan and prioritize teamwork using Agile methodologies
- Participate in pre‑ and post‑production support, validation, and deployment activities
- Maintain clear and thorough technical documentation for development, troubleshooting, and operational handoff
Skills & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in data integration or interface development, preferably in healthcare IT
- Prior experience leading or mentoring technical teams
- Expert knowledge of HL7 v2 messages (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU) and FHIR protocols
- Strong experience with integration engines (Mirth Connect preferred; Iguana a bonus)
- Strong proficiency in RESTful API development and data exchange logic
- Proficiency with JavaScript and scripting for interface development
- Working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows environments (file systems, scripting, SFTP/FTP/HTTP)
- Familiarity with EMR data structures, healthcare ontologies, and standard coding schemes
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data security requirements
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and modern integration strategies
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, handle escalations, and lead under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience integrating across clinical specialties such as Laboratory, Oncology, or other domains
- Experience designing and improving large‑scale healthcare data workflows
- Project or technical leadership experience scoping, implementing, and documenting integration solutions
- Experience improving monitoring, performance, and scalability of interfaces and integration platforms
If you're passionate about healthcare technology and ready to play a pivotal role in integrating complex systems with precision and care, we'd love to hear from you!
