Role Overview
Kriya’s summer intern will be a 40-hour/week position onsite in one of our RTP offices. Kriya’s summer intern will have an individual project and the opportunity to develop technical, engineering and/or scientific expertise. Through our summer internship, intern students develop a professional network, learn how to work in a scientific and engineering environment, build hands-on laboratory skills, and deliver presentations showcasing their work.

Internship Opportunities Available:
  • Intern – Process Development Upstream 
  • Intern – Process Development Downstream
Kriya's summer internship program will run from May 18 - July 24, 2026.

Key Responsibilities
Kriya's intern will support laboratory operations by performing experimental and routine lab activities under the guidance of a scientist. The ideal candidate is organized, responsible, and demonstrates a strong willingness to learn while working in a structured lab environment.

Experience & Skills and Work Environment
Experience & Skills
  • Intern: rising Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, or cell biology or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Interested in laboratory experiments and laboratory work towards developing and improving Kriya’s cell culture or purification AAV processes.
  • Experience or willingness to learn and run small scale experiments using aseptic techniques, analytical equipment, column chromatography, and filtration equipment.
  • Organized and comfortable working/learning in lab environment.
  • Experience with computer and IT systems.
  • Good presentation and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of basic lab skills.
Work Environment
  • Primarily a laboratory or office setting.
  • May involve standing, sitting, and using laboratory equipment for extended periods.
  • Some lifting of equipment or materials may be required.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals or biological materials; proper handling and disposal procedures must be followed.

Duration: An engaging 10-week in-person program designed to provide an immersive experience.

Historical Programs have included:
  • Projects: Interns engage in impactful assignments that contribute to our mission and collaborate with experienced teams across various spaces.
  • Lunch & Learns: Weekly sessions include a variety of topics, such as: Operational Space Overviews, New Grad Mixer & Panel, Director Speed Mentoring… and many more designed to enhance professional growth and networking opportunities!
  • Poster Presentations: At the end of the program, interns showcase their projects to company leadership and peers.
  • Intern Buddy Program: Each intern is paired with an experienced employee for guidance and support, fostering connections within the Kriya community.
