Summary This position serves as an Inventory Manager in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service in the VA Health Care System responsible for the inventory and management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment in the assigned area(s). Qualifications To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 03/13/2026. Time‑In‑Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS‑7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑5. For a GS‑9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑7. The grade may have been in any occupation - but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one‑year time‑in‑grade - as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF‑50 that clearly demonstrates one‑year time‑in‑grade. Note: Time‑In‑Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. GRADUATE EDUCATION: Successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education that demonstrates the knowledge‑skills‑and‑abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Transcripts must be submitted with the application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. COMBINATION: Possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position that meets the requirements of the position. If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify a copy of your transcript is required. SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the baccalaureate level in the qualifying curriculum detailed above is fully qualifying. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution. To qualify for SAA applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in a qualifying curriculum and meet one of the following: Class Standing in the upper one‑third of their class; Grade Point Average 3.0 or higher; or membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistics problems. Conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis. Conducts spot checks. Complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition, and sensitive equipment. Returns, Recalls, and Reutilization: Implements federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies. Coordinates disposal of surplus or excess supplies. Makes emergent procurement decisions. Participates in root cause analysis process. Performs other related duties as assigned. Promotion Potential The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Additional Information Work Schedule: Monday through Friday – 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
