ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


An Inventory Manager typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:


·       Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials (steel, aluminum, sheet metal, etc.), hardware, consumables, and finished products.

·       Conduct regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories.

·       Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and overages.

·       Ensure proper labeling, organization, and traceability of materials.

·       Collaborate with production, purchasing, and project managers to forecast material needs.

·       Ensure timely availability of materials for fabrication jobs and work orders.

·       Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent downtime or overstock

·       Oversee warehouse layout and storage systems for efficient material handling.

·       Ensure safe and compliant storage of materials, including heavy stock and hazardous items.

·       Manage receiving, staging, and issuing processes for all inventory items.

·       Utilize inventory management software to track transactions and stock movements.

·       Generate inventory reports, usage trends, and cost analyses for leadership.

·       Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline inventory processes.

·       Supervise warehouse and inventory staff as applicable.

·       Train team members in inventory procedures, safety standards, and system use.

·       Promote a culture of accountability and organization within the warehouse.

·       Coordinate with suppliers for material deliveries, returns, and quality issues.

·       Support purchasing decisions by providing accurate inventory data and demand forecasts.


QUALIFICATIONS


·       7+ years of inventory or warehouse management experience, ideally in fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environments.

·       Strong knowledge of inventory control practices and material handling.

·       Experience with ERP or inventory systems and implementation of new systems

·       Ability to operate forklifts or willingness to become certified.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


·       Familiarity with fabrication materials, job shop workflows, and production scheduling.

·       Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

·      OSHA or safety training background.
