Position Summary The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing, controlling, and optimizing all inventory related to construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies across warehouses, yards, and job sites. This role ensures materials are available when needed, stored properly, accurately tracked, and purchased cost‑effectively to support construction schedules, minimize downtime, and control costs. The Inventory Manager works closely with managers, purchasing, and vendors to maintain accurate inventory levels and efficient material flow throughout all phases of construction operations. Inventory Control & Oversight Manage all construction inventory including materials, tools, equipment, and consumables across warehouses, storage yards, and active job sites. Establish and maintain inventory controls, tracking systems, and audit processes to ensure accuracy and accountability. Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly. Ensure proper labeling, storage, rotation, and organization of inventory (FIFO where applicable). Monitor inventory usage and trends to prevent shortages, overstocking, or obsolete materials. Coordinate with purchasing and operations to forecast material needs based on project schedules. Assist with vendor selection, pricing reviews, and purchasing recommendations to control costs. Track material lead times and ensure timely delivery to job sites. Verify incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and damage; resolve discrepancies with vendors as needed. Jobsite & Operations Support Work closely with Managers to ensure material availability aligns with construction timelines. Coordinate material transfers between warehouses and job sites. Maintain accurate records for material allocations by project for cost tracking and job costing purposes. Support field teams in locating, issuing, returning, and tracking tools and equipment. Systems, Reporting & Documentation Maintain inventory records in inventory management systems. Develop inventory‑related reports including usage, variances, shrinkage, and cost trends. Maintain documentation for warranties, service records, and equipment tracking. Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve material flow. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping Ensure inventory storage and warehouse areas comply with safety standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies. Promote safe material handling practices and proper use of equipment. Maintain clean, organized, and efficient warehouse and storage environments. Train and supervise inventory, warehouse, or materials staff as assigned. Establish clear procedures and expectations for inventory handling across operations. Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, finance, safety, and project teams. Perform other duties as assigned to support operational success. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, logistics, supply chain, or business preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of inventory management experience; construction industry experience strongly preferred. Experience managing inventory across multiple locations or job sites is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Fluent in both English and Spanish required. Strong understanding of construction materials, tools, and equipment. Proficiency with inventory management, ERP, or construction software systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze inventory data and resolve discrepancies effectively. Effective communication skills with field crews, vendors, and management. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Forklift or material‑handling equipment certification (or ability to obtain). Physical Demands & Work Environment Ability to lift and carry materials up to required weight limits (with or without accommodation). Frequent walking, standing, and working in warehouse, yard, and jobsite environments. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction noise, and equipment.
