Position Title: Investigator Senior

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid: 50% onsite, 50% remote)
Posting Status: Active
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Shift: Day (8:00 AM 5:00 PM)

Position Overview

The Senior Investigator will work within the Rental Fraud Unit of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) to investigate allegations of fraud related to state programs. This role requires strong analytical, investigative, and reporting skills, as well as the ability to conduct fieldwork and collaborate with law enforcement and legal entities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and research records, policies, procedures, and online investigative resources to gather evidence related to fraud allegations.
  • Conduct field investigations, interview suspects and witnesses, prepare and serve subpoenas, and perform surveillance.
  • Maintain accurate investigation records and ensure proper chain of evidence.
  • Prepare detailed reports presenting complex technical matters clearly and concisely.
  • Testify at administrative hearings and criminal proceedings, including Grand Jury hearings.
  • Prepare prosecution reports and refer cases to the Attorney General's Office or county prosecutors.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and assist other investigators as needed.
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Previous experience in law enforcement or investigative roles.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and assessments in the field.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to testify in hearings and interact with attorneys.
  • Research skills across multiple databases.
Preferred Skills
  • Criminal investigation experience.
  • Accounting knowledge.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Retired or prior law enforcement experience.
Education
  • Minimum: High School Diploma
Additional Information
  • Travel: Required for field investigations and hearings.
  • Security Clearance: FPCC through DPS and additional CJIS/DES background checks required.
  • Compliance: Must be local at time of submission and available for in-person interviews within one week of posting close date.
  • Duty Post: Hybrid onsite at 1789 W. Jefferson Street, Phoenix, AZ, and remote work.
  • Mileage: Reimbursable for field travel.
