Job Title: IT Finance Project Manager (SAP Financials)

Location: Long Island City, NY - must be willing to come onsite 2-3 days per week

Duration: Long Term

Must Have:

Senior level, ideally 10+ yrs experience

SAP Finance experience, experience with financials and analytics

Implementation experience

Must be curious, know how to ask the right questions, be willing to ask probing questions, jump right in and start

Collaborative and professional, must be able to work with the business side and tech side

Project:

Will be helping to implement SAP PaPM (do not need PaPM experience but should have SAP Financials related experience). They will working with offshore dev teams and an implementation partner. This PM should be very hands on and be able to dive into project plans, scheduling, etc. Not a PMO type role.

Must have 10+ years delivering complex IT application projects/programs, working at various levels.

Proven track record and experience in delivering projects within time and budget

Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools. This should include knowledge and use of resource management, portfolio management, demand management and governance techniques.

Experience leading large complex cross functional projects / programs impacting core business processes across the finance function. Previous experience working with SAP with domain knowledge of the Finance function preferred.

Project management responsibilities across all business and IT functions.

Experience in having worked for a similar large scale global organization in a highly matrix, dynamic and managed environment

Experience with managing relationships and deliverables across global IT and business organizations

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Advanced user of Microsoft application (i.e. Power Point / Excel)

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Project

Agile Project Management Experience (preferred)

ITIL certifications (preferred)

Project Manager with strong delivery experience of large multifunctional projects/programs, with strong IT (application and / or infrastructure) delivery stream. Prior PMO experience to lead Business and IT projects and work initiatives while also providing hands on support to PMO Lead.

Function as a project leader and IT professional, applying technical expertise and project management best practices (including Agile) to help ensure projects meet their goals/objectives. Responsible for overall coordination, risk management and stability of project oriented work efforts. Receives general direction and guidance, but must be able to work in a highly collaborative environment and also function as an individual contributor.

  • Senior Stakeholder management and communication.
  • Manages one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Uses project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations.
  • Effectively applies ELC / IT (GIS) PMO methodology and enforces project standards across projects and work efforts.
  • Assembles project plans and teamwork assignments
  • Directs and monitors work efforts on a daily basis
  • Identifies resource needs and ensures resources are accountable and delivering against their project commitments.
  • Performs quality reviews and follows quality assurance procedures
  • Manages project risk exposure and escalates functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
  • Tracks key project milestones and manages project plans, budget and/or resources to meet the needs of stakeholders based on agreed requirements and scope, using defined change control processes.
  • Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk and resources (people/money) of the work effort being managed.
  • Provides Project Financial Management, to:
  1. Ensure project funding processes are completed
  2. Manage project budget and changes
  3. Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
  4. Update project forecasts on a monthly basis
  5. Track and report on project burn rate
  • Manages interdependencies across IT, working with other Project and Program Managers in order to identified and manage interdependent deliverables.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
  • Selects appropriate work procedures and approaches to address technical/functional, process and/or people challenges.
  • Leads and/or supports various work efforts (assigned by the head of Global Applications Portfolio) which include efforts to enhance PPM (Project Portfolio Management) process maturity across the PMO and IT (GIS) department as well as efforts that support the ELC and Global Applications strategies.
