The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the IT infrastructure that supports Magline’s business operations. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of servers, networks, cloud services, hardware, and enterprise applications in a manufacturing environment. This position requires strong technical expertise combined with effective time management, communication, and project coordination skills. The IT Systems Administrator partners closely with internal stakeholders and the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to ensure reliable operations and timely resolution of issues. As with other members of the IT team, this role may require work outside normal business hours to address critical system issues, emergencies, or business-impacting events or projects. In simple terms, the IT Systems Administrator helps bridge IT capabilities with business needs to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and technology return on investment. The IT Systems Administrator is a member of the Information Technology team and reports to the Corporate IT Manager. Areas of Responsibility A strong, ongoing partnership with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) is essential to the success of this role. The IT Systems Administrator maintains proactive communication with the MSP and internal teams to ensure seamless IT operations, appropriate escalation of issues, and alignment with business priorities. This role provides internal technical leadership while leveraging the MSP for additional support, specialized expertise, and escalation when required. System Administration & Infrastructure Management Maintain and administer Windows Server platforms and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V). Ensure server availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness. Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions in coordination with the MSP. Monitor and optimize on‑premises and cloud‑based storage solutions (SAN, NAS, cloud storage). Audit and provide guidance and oversight for managed IT infrastructure services. Hardware Management Maintain and administer business‑critical hardware, including servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and related peripherals. Ensure efficient hardware utilization, performance, and lifecycle management. Coordinate with the MSP on hardware‑related backup, recovery, and replacement strategies. Troubleshoot and provide timely support for hardware‑related operational issues. Network & Security Management Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Support network security practices such as segmentation, access controls, and intrusion prevention. Implement cybersecurity best practices including patch management, endpoint protection, MFA, and identity access management. Participate in vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts in coordination with internal teams and service providers. Ensure IT infrastructure aligns with applicable policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Cloud & Virtualization Management Support and manage cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments (e.g., Azure, AWS). Monitor and optimize virtualization and cloud resources for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with leadership and service providers on cloud usage and cost‑awareness initiatives. IT Support & User Management Provide support for system and network issues as they arise. Oversee MSP help desk escalations and ensure appropriate resolution. Assist with IT documentation, standard operating procedures, and security policies. Share knowledge and best practices with peers as appropriate. Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Support the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity processes. Participate in IT risk assessments and redundancy planning. Assist with audits, testing, and documentation related to system resilience and recovery. Participate in and lead IT infrastructure improvement projects as assigned. Evaluate and recommend technologies to support scalability, reliability, and cost effectiveness. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware and software procurement. ERP Support Provide support for Epicor ERP system administration when requested by IT leadership. Epicor ERP ownership and primary administration responsibilities reside with the ERP System Administrator. Support ERP‑related infrastructure and hardware, including printers, scanners, workstations, tablets, and edge devices. Assist with ERP‑related technical issues as needed in coordination with the ERP System Administrator and IT leadership. Work Schedule & Availability While this role primarily follows standard business hours, there may be occasions where work outside of normal hours is required to support projects, resolve issues, or respond to business‑critical events. After‑hours support expectations align with those of the broader IT team and IT leadership. Qualifications and Requirements Ability to manage priorities, respond to business needs, and work under time constraints. Willingness to learn, adapt, and support duties outside immediate expertise when required. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience (5+ years). Strong experience with Windows Server and virtualization platforms. Working knowledge of Windows and additional operating systems. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and enterprise hardware. Experience supporting cloud and hybrid environments. Strong troubleshooting, organization, and communication skills. Experience in manufacturing environments and familiarity with FinOps principles is preferred.
