PSG Backend Developer (Contractor) The Backend Developer will be responsible for building and deployment of server-side components of the Paint Stores Group (PSG) content tracking application. The main tasks will include developing an MVC application to bridge a database of topics in the company's internal publications with a front-end web interface. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in modern programming in ASP.NET or Azure. This is a 3-month contractor role. Strategy & Planning Partner with Content Development to assist in defining asset needs. Partner with the UX Strategy to incorporate essential functionality. Ensure application is complete, polished, and delivered on schedule. Development & Deployment Show proficiency in server-side development and optimization of data, including database creation, management, and debugging. Integrate data from various back-end services and databases. Create and maintain software documentation. Create and analyze reliable and secure back-end functionality. Integrate email notification services. Collaborate with front-end developers and web designers to match visual design. Operational Management & Optimization Assess feedback from Content Development team. Update database for weekly publishing cycle. Debug and optimize performance. Partner with UX team to incorporate revisions. Support & Outreach Document feedback and route it through the appropriate channels. Escalate technical issues. Ensure appropriate tools and technology are available for in-person training. Position Requirements Formal Education & Certification Required Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business). Knowledge & Experience Required 5+ years IT/Business experience. 2+ years-experience implementing IT solutions, creating curriculum, conducting training, or managing products/projects. Minimum Bachelor of Science in computer science, software engineering, programming, or equivalent Proficiency with SQL Server 2019 Proficiency in ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap Understanding of object-oriented programming Experience with the design and implementation of APIs Understanding of code versioning tools such Git Understanding of code deployment tools such as Visual Studio Track record of successfully developing company or customer websites Excellent time-management and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with the SDLC and general software development. MadCap Flare familiarity. Project Management Skills. MS365 familiarity. Personal Attributes Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities. Strong creative eye with attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills. Proven ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to transform an idea or need into a completed solution or work product. Strong commitment to inclusion and diversity. Sit for extended periods of time; walk and stand occasionally for presentations. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components constantly. Lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers, devices, and peripherals occasionally. Work environment involves everyday risk or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, and training rooms, i.e., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations. Near Vision the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday may be required.
