Job Title: Biological Research Specialist
Location: Baltimore, MD
Position Summary:
Provide essential research support services for the Confocal Imaging Facility at the National Institute on Aging. This role focuses on biological research, microscopy, and laboratory techniques to assist in studying plant and animal life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform confocal microscopy image acquisition and analysis.
- Conduct sample preparation for TEM, including ultrathin sectioning and immunogold labeling.
- Utilize immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and super-resolution microscopy techniques.
- Assist with laboratory experiments, troubleshooting protocols, and equipment optimization.
- Prepare solutions and chemicals for lab use.
- Provide training and technical support to lab members.
Required Skills:
- Strong communication (oral and written) skills.
- Proficiency in confocal and electron microscopy (TEM, SEM).
- Experience with 3D reconstruction software and automated imaging systems.
- Familiarity with biological research laboratory workflows.
Education & Experience:
- Master's degree in Biology or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in biological research settings.
