Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant (CPA Required)
Location: Palos Heights, IL - Southwest Suburbs Only** This role is best suited for candidates already in or easily commuting to the Palos / Orland / Tinley / Oak Lawn / Homer Glen / Mokena area.
Salary: ~$110K + flexibility Hybrid Schedule but mostly on-site during busy season and probaby some possibly wfh in off season. SummaryIf you live in the north/NW suburbs or require a long commute-probably not a fit unless you plan on moving.
Senior-level tax professional responsible for advanced accounting, payroll, and tax preparation with some leadership duties. This role combines hands-on work with oversight responsibilities, supporting junior staff while managing multiple business and individual tax clients. The position involves complex accounting and tax compliance, providing strategic guidance while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP and IRS requirements.
Key Responsibilities-
Prepare and review complex business and individual tax returns (C Corps, S Corps, Partnerships, LLCs, Trusts, Estates, Nonprofits).

Review work of junior tax/accounting staff and provide mentorship.

Maintain and reconcile financial records in compliance with GAAP and tax regulations.

Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, equity).

Manage QuickBooks accounting: posting, reconciliations, journal entries.

Perform account analysis for AR/AP, assets, loans, and equity accounts.

Identify tax planning opportunities and accounting process improvements.

Assist with IRS/state representation and audit resolution support.

File extensions, estimated payments, and sales tax returns.

Work directly with firm leadership on planning and advisory initiatives.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related).

CPA license required + active PTIN.

5 10 years of tax preparation/accounting experience.

Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (desktop + online), ProSeries, MS Excel/Word, Adobe Acrobat.

Deep understanding of GAAP and IRS tax code.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.

Ability to manage multiple clients and solve problems under deadlines.

Proven ability to coach/develop staff.
