Job Description: This position will serve as the Course Designer, Course Instructor, Course Manager, and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Joint Advanced Fires Qualification Course (JAFQ) under the 705th Training Squander, 505th Test and Training Group at Hurlburt Field, FL. The JAFQ Course will provide advanced fires instruction/training across all military domains and Services in support of the Joint Warfighting Concept. The course is designed to prepare select graduates (O-3 / E-7 and above) of USAF Weapons School and other similar Army, Navy, and Marine Corps training programs with the use of weapon systems or other actions in a JOA, at the operational level of warfare using cross boundary operational/and tactical fires to influence/disrupt enemy operational forces, critical functions, and key facilities to support operations or campaigns.
Instruction will prepare students to Command and Control operational fires beyond the tactical level of warfare; this includes air interdiction, strategic attack, suppression of enemy air defenses, and offensive counter-air missions to achieve a desired effect on a given target set or system of targets. Graduates will garner an understanding of how the joint force organizes and commands and controls fires, through presented academics and practical exercises. Courseware classification will range from Unclassified through TS/SCI and include discussion of IJSTO and SAP capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- One of two experts designing and developing the JAFQ Course
- Serve as the Course Manager and an instructor for the JAFQ Course
- Serve as a SME in the JAFQ Course and other 705 TRS courses
- Provide advisory services at worldwide exercises
Requirements
- Current Top Secret/SCI clearance eligibility.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited university or college.
- 20+ years of military operational experience as a rated officer, intelligence community professional, cyberspace officer, Special Operations Force officer, or space operations officer, with a minimum of five years as a senior officer (GS-14/15, Colonel, Brigadier General)
- Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) designation or assignments with extensive fires experience at the CCMD level; extensive experience with Target Systems Analysis; extensive experience with the planning of Special Access Programs (SAPs) for execution; experience with Instructional Systems Design-based course development and Joint accreditation; and personal experience training advanced audiences (e.g., USAFWS, NAWDC, MAWTS, C2WAC graduates).
- Career assignments must include Air Component Headquarters assignment as a field grade officer; staff assignment in a leadership role (Branch, Division, Directorate) for a Major Command or Joint Force Command or Service Headquarters / Joint Staff.
- Training and Instructor experience is required with career history in at least one of the following roles: Weapons Instructor Course (or sister service equivalent) with follow-on assignment as an instructor/evaluator; PME faculty; Advanced Study Group (e.g., SAASS, SAMS, JAWS, etc.) with follow-on assignment; AETC Master Instructor; assignment to a combat training organization such as Air Advisor Academy, Joint Enabling Capability Command, MCTP / OCTP (Highly Qualified Expert-Senior Mentor advisor), C2WAC, or similar role with foreign national militaries.
- Must be able to directly interface with senior executives (GS-15 – SES) and General Officers (active duty and retired) and require strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to operate independently.
- Must be proficient with multimedia operations required for instructional briefings, presentations, and exercise activities. This includes the knowledge, skill, and ability to develop and present graphics data and information for various audiences.
- Ability to travel to various locations within and outside the continental United States (CONUS) in performance of the tasks.
