Company Overview:
GBT (AKA BamCore) is a young, highly innovative green building components manufacturer with primary operations in Ocala, FL and secondary operations in Windsor, CA. The company focuses on using fast growing natural fibers to provide fully prefabricated vertical frames for low-rise buildings up to five stories. By changing both the materials and the methods used in building, BamCore has received high acclaim, multiple awards and now backing by the some of the largest participants in the residential building market. Based on a long period of product and IP development, BamCore is now ready to scale its manufacturing capacities and is preparing for a Series A funding round targeted for 2Q 2025.

Position Overview:

The COO will be responsible to assist the CEO to scale and optimize the operations and prepare for our Series A funding round. The COO will play a pivotal role in driving operational efficiency, refining processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring the successful execution of the company's product quality and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will bring leadership skills, with extensive experience in building component manufacturing, engineered wood products or large scale residential construction.

Primary Job Responsibilities which will be the most likely tactical focus in the immediate future:

  • Scaling: GBT is in the process of a major scale-up expected to reach a production and fabrication level of [10,000 to 15,000 ]house equivalents per year over the coming years. The COO will help lead the Director of Global Operations to achieve this scale-up through (a) the building of the necessary staffing levels and middle management bench and (b) the planning and investment of successive CapEx investments principally in Ocala.
  • Supply Chain Development: To accompany the scale-up in operations, the company will need to grow a reliable, secure and high-quality supply chain which comes from supply manufacturers in the principally in South American but also in Asia and possibly the US. Each mill and product supplier will require significant oversight and relationship investment to reach the 1 million+ annual panel purchase objective.
  • Fundraising Support: To achieve the targeted scale-up of production levels, the Company will need to close on an ambitious Series A found round in the second quarter of 2025. The COO will work closely with the CEO and on this initiative, including (a) developing investor presentations, financial models, and operational forecasts, (b) leading the targeting and outreach efforts to the investment community and (c) participating in investor meetings and pitches.

Secondary Job Responsibilities which will gain focus as the primary responsibilities and contributions are established:

  • Operational Leadership: Along with the Director of Global Operations, develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's growth, near-term and long-term objectives. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the company.
  • Manufacturing Excellence: Along with the Director of Global Operations Lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Product & Technology Integration: Along with the Director of Global Operations, ensure seamless integration of technology into operational processes. Drive the adoption of new technologies and tools that enhance efficiency and support the company's growth.
  • Organizational Leadership and Mentorship: Provide both a role model and a mentoring skill that will accelerate the development and maturity of present and future team members.
  • Tactical Insight: Identify all areas to tactically improve operations, cost structures, team communication, product quality and resource allocation.
  • Strategic Planning: With success in the early tactic objectives, participate with full executive team to evolve a set of strategic plans that anticipate (a) market segment penetration growth, (b) acceleration of product development, (c) incremental development of IP assets, and (d) establishment of partnerships and joint ventures with appropriate suppliers, co-providers and customers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Along with the Director of Global Operations, ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, implementing best practices in safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
  • Innovation & Technology: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of the building components sector.

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: 15+ years of operational management experience in engineered wood, building components manufacturing, building pre-fabrication or large scale residential development.
  • Education: Must have a BA or BS in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration or a relevant related field.
  • Licenses. PE or SE preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence overseeing international supply chains, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
  • Leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and modern digital competence to permit leverage use of operational management tools and software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
