Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and versatile Journeyman Mechanical Technician with multi-trade capabilities to support our industrial maintenance operations. This position plays a key role in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure across the site, while also contributing in secondary trades such as welding, fabrication, basic electrical, and hydraulics.

The ideal candidate is a safety-focused, hands-on problem solver with a broad skill set and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of mechanical systems, including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, piping, and rotating equipment.

  • Support additional maintenance tasks across multiple trades, such as:

    • Millwright work (equipment alignment, rigging, installation)

    • Welding/fabrication (stick/MIG welding, cutting, structural repairs)

    • Basic electrical (motor connections, sensors, troubleshooting low-voltage controls)

    • Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance

  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) and predictive tasks as per the maintenance schedule.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent using a CMMS.

  • Participate in equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations.

  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

  • Provide input to continuous improvement initiatives and reliability programs.


Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Certification (Red Seal or equivalent) in a mechanical trade (e.g., Industrial Mechanic / Millwright).

  • 3–5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Proven multi-trade experience in at least two of the following: welding/fabrication, millwrighting, basic electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, or pipefitting.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to operate shop equipment (e.g., lathes, grinders, welding machines, overhead cranes).

  • Familiarity with industrial safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and working at heights.

  • Experience using CMMS systems for work orders and preventive maintenance is an asset.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.


Working Conditions:

  • Industrial facility environment (e.g., manufacturing, processing plant, or similar).

  • Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and occasional outdoor work.

  • Must be able to work overtime, shift work, or respond to after-hours emergencies if required.

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/walking for long periods, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
