(Jr.–Sr.) Software Engineer - Backend/Platform

Position Overview Laminar (formerly H2Ok Innovations) is a woman‑founded cleantech startup focused on delivering AI‑powered solutions that improve industrial sustainability. We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build the core implementation of our cloud‑backend systems that power real‑time industrial data insights. What You Will Do Build & Ship APIs: Develop and maintain backend APIs and services that power our core product, working closely with senior engineers to deliver production‑ready features. Work with Data Pipelines: Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines using tools such as Databricks to process and analyze large‑scale datasets. Infrastructure as Code: Use Terraform to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure in a scalable, repeatable way. Product Performance: Improve database and infrastructure performance by optimizing relational schemas and building high‑efficiency data pipelines. Monitoring Infrastructure: Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting of our cloud infrastructure to identify bottlenecks and reduce downtime. Security Design: Integrate secure data practices and prioritise security in everything we build. Grow Fast: Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and domain knowledge in a fast‑paced environment. About You Strong Python and/or PHP skills with solid backend development experience. Proficiency with SQL databases, including complex queries, optimization, and performance tuning. Familiarity with NoSQL databases. Experience with AWS and/or Azure. Understanding of data pipelines (ETL); Spark/Databricks is a plus. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform). Knowledge of security best practices. Strong ownership mindset with excellent problem‑solving skills. Benefits Full‑time position with competitive compensation and equity.
