As a Retail Key Holder at CALPAK, you will lead the charge in crafting delightful travel experiences for our customers, elevating their journeys with knowledge and inspiration about CALPAK's versatile travel solutions. Your goal is to foster a 'Happy Packing' lifestyle, ensuring that every trip is a source of joy. Take responsibility for the team while achieving individual and team sales goals.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

    • Maintain a positive, energetic demeanor and build lasting customer relationships.
    • Act as a brand ambassador and engage with the community.
    • Motivate, coach, and inspire the team; manage employee experience from hiring to offboarding.
    • Provide feedback.
    • Ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures.
    • Manage daily staffing, inventory, and store maintenance.
    • Handle POS transactions, including cash and credit.

Administrative Duties:

    • Partner with ASM, SM, or location-specific loss prevention team(s) to address concerns related to unsatisfactory performance & policy violations in a timely matter.
    • Maintain accurate inventory, reporting discrepancies when found, & manage product

Flexibility & Adaptability:

    • Available to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Adapt to changes and solve complex problems as needed.

Technical Skills:

    • Proficient with POS systems, computers, and inventory management software.
    • Ensure accurate pricing and merchandise displays.

Miscellaneous:

    • Perform opening, midday, and closing duties.
    • Report workplace injuries promptly.

Competency

    • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in written and verbal communication.
    • Time management and multitasking abilities.
    • Positive attitude, punctuality, and dependability.
    • Ability to use Point of Sale systems (POS) effectively.
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Supervisory responsibilities

    • Direct reports include full & part-time supervisors and team members.

Work environment

    • Primary work environment is indoors.
    • Secondary work environment may include outdoor tasks.
    • Noise level can be above average at times.

Physical demands

    • Stand and walk throughout the shift.
    • Read written instructions, reports, and other information on paper and computer screens.
    • Orally communicate with customers and other team members on consistent basis throughout their shift
    • Push/pull merchandise with appropriate equipment (carts, bins, etc.) to and from backroom and sales floor.
    • Lift, place, and arrange items on shelves and racks.
    • Bend down and reach above head.
    • Climb and descend ladder.
    • Individually lift up to 49 pounds, and group lift up to 97 pounds (under 2lb on a constant basis, 10lb on a frequent basis, 10lb-49lb on an occasional basis, and 50lb-97lb group lifts on an infrequent basis)

Position type and expected hours of work—              

    • Full-time to 40-45 hours/week or more, working shifts as early as 9:00 AM working shifts as late as 11:59pm, on rare occasions due to business demands shifts may extend past 12:01am.
    • Part-time to 20-25 hours/week or more, working shifts as early as 9:00 AM working shifts as late as 11:59pm, on rare occasions due to business demands shifts may extend past 12:01am.
    • Scheduled work shifts from 8-9 hours, with occasional meeting/training shifts of 2 hours.
    • Due to unexpected business demands overtime (shifts greater than 8 hours) may be required.
    • Working hours require flexibility and will include weekends and holidays.

Travel

    • Walking to & from parking structure/lot and/or public transportation.
    • Driving to CALPAK HQ for Training Opportunities
    • Walking is required for all storage loading dock and trash/recycle disposal job duties.

Required education and experience

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum - 2+ years of progressive retail experience
    • Demonstrated sales and service skills, strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication and listening skills. Ability to multi-task, basic math and cash handling experience.
    • Must have an aptitude and enthusiasm to learn about all products available to our customers.

Preferred education and experience

    • Customer Service Experience.
