Project Overview

Client is seeking a Kubernetes Platform Engineer to support the design, deployment, and scaling of its enterprise Kubernetes platform. This role focuses on building and automating a self-service Kubernetes solution that empowers teams across the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in platform engineering, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). You'll work within a team driving Marriott's technology transformation - adopting DevOps, automation, and continuous product iteration to enable faster innovation and proactive operations across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, automate, and maintain Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure to ensure security, performance, and high availability.
  • Develop scalable solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Helm, and GitOps.
  • Manage container orchestration across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Alibaba).
  • Build automated processes for right-sizing resources (VMs, storage, etc.) and real-time cost visibility.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve production and infrastructure-related problems.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and configuration notes.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure and automation metrics to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Participate in peer reviews and contribute to fostering a collaborative, modern engineering culture.
  • Stay current on emerging cloud and DevOps technologies, continuously enhancing the platform and automation strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience/certification.
  • Minimum 4+ years of overall technology experience, with strong technical and customer-focused skills.
  • At least 2+ years in a cloud or platform engineering role with a strategic, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes design, deployment, and management across multiple cloud platforms.
  • Strong background in Public Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Alibaba).
  • Proven experience driving architecture decisions and automation through Terraform, Helm, and GitOps.
  • Ability to design end-to-end architectures supporting 99.99% service availability with cost and performance efficiency.

Technical & Soft Skills

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Go, Java, or Python.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure systems, DevOps automation, and self-healing methodologies.
  • Experience with container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure observability.
  • Knowledge of modern infrastructure tools and best practices across enterprise environments.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to influence and build constructive relationships across diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to adapt and learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
