In the thrilling role of Learning Specialist 2, you become an integral member of the Special Programs team, spearheading comprehensive training support. Your dynamic engagement involves collaborating with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, and regulators to ensure that our training programs not only meet but exceed customer needs, regulatory imperatives, contractual obligations, and the mission agenda. In constant collaboration and partnership with subject matter experts, weaving together a training program that seamlessly integrates both internal and external training requirements. Your expertise will be the driving force behind the development and maintenance of a training program that stands as a testament to excellence, setting a benchmark for industry standards.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and evaluation of training programs.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others. Ability to interact professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of common computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and performance-based training techniques.
  • Ability to research and identify requirements as they pertain to organizational or regulatory needs and requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize and orchestrate effective, efficient, and dedicated working pathways in a dynamic environment.

Education/Experience: A baccalaureate degree and 4 years of related experience are required for this position. The degree should be in Training, Education, or a related filed. An equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation may be considered.

Desired Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) orders and standards pertaining to training.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures pertaining to training.
  • Sound understanding of the Laboratory's learning management system (UTrain).
  • Sound understanding of the ADDIE processes.
  • Knowledge of document control processes and procedures.

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
