Lab Assistant, Full Time, Hoxworth Components Manufacturing LaboratoryHoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE - 40 hours per week), Laboratory Assistant, to assist the Components Manufacturing Laboratory personnel with laboratory testing preparation and other related work. The incumbent will be trained on first shift, then assigned to work second shift after training is completed (Second shift includes: Monday-Friday, 3:30 pm-12:00 am, with rotating weekends, Saturday 12:00 pm-8:30 pm). This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities. If you're a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a laboratory setting and is passionate about making a meaningful impact on others' lives, we encourage you to apply for a position at Hoxworth Blood Center.Essential Functions:Assist with laboratory testing preparation and other related work to include assembling various specimen kits for analyses; prepare specimen collection outfits for various lab tests; assist with receiving and sorting blood samples; aid in preparation of reagents and other solutions; dispose of samples after analytical completion; assist in sample identification, etc.Clean laboratory equipment, instruments and/or area and pack, unpack, sort, maintain, inspect and/or distribute related laboratory material including clean and sterilize delivered glassware, inspect for cracks and breakage, unpack and distribute cleaned glassware and collect dirty glassware from laboratory; prepare materials for mailing and packages and ship mailing containers and specimens; clean and dust laboratory furniture; and store section supplies.Prepare and/or maintain work-related records (e.g., maintain card file on supplies and related equipment and prepare lists of sample parameters requested by each unit).Perform related duties based on departmental need.This job description can be changed at any time.Required Education: High School Diploma or GEDRequired Experience: NonePhysical Requirements/Work Environment:Sitting - ContinuouslyRepetitive hand motion (such as typing) - OftenHearing, listening - OftenTalking - OftenStanding - OftenWalking - OftenBending - OftenStooping - OftenLifting - up to 20 pounds - OftenLifting - over 50 pounds - SeldomCompensation and Benefits: UC offers an exceptional benefits package designed to support your well-being, financial security, and work-life balance.
