Job Description

Canventa Life Sciences provides scientists with the essential cells required for their life-saving discovery work. We have exciting opportunities for 2 Lab Technicians to join our team and contribute to accelerating the pace of research!


In this role, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), as well as guiding these cells into differentiated cell types. You will gain hands-on experience with manufacturing iPSC lines and current cell culture techniques, as well as downstream assays including qPCR and flow cytometry. You will also contribute to the overall operational excellence of Canventa Life Sciences by supporting the overall laboratory functioning with a commitment to quality control, safety compliance, and day-to-day maintenance.


Please note that this role may require occasional weekend work to maintain cell cultures/perform media changes.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor cell quality of iPSC lines and differentiated cells for manufacturing
  • Perform and troubleshoot experiments with input from the supervisor, including establishing or improving novel methods and techniques, documenting and analyzing observations, and presenting data
  • Provide training on laboratory techniques and product protocols to other staff, as required
  • Contribute to the collaborative efforts of the Canventa Lab team, performing other duties as required


Knowledge and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of expertise in primary cell culture, gained via education and/or work experience
  • Previous work with human pluripotent stem cells and/or practical experience with a variety of laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry, qPR, and microscopy is an asset
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills is required; experience or exposure to quality control methods is considered an asset
  • Growth-oriented mindset with interest in learning new skills and technologies
