Lab Technician The position is for a laboratory technician in the Szymanski group. The candidate will be involved in providing research support and completing small projects that are focused on better understanding the disease mechanisms of BSL-2 pathogens, including Campylobacter jejuni and Streptococcus mutans. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with the supervision of undergraduate students. The position also involves providing administrative support and assisting with the organization of the lab. Knowledge, skills – The candidate should have BSL-2 laboratory experience and be willing to work with animal models. The candidate should also have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment, have excellent time management skills, and organizational abilities. Duties/Responsibilities - Research Support and Independent Laboratory Projects (50%) Conduct complex laboratory research activities in support of ongoing studies investigating the mechanisms of disease associated with BSL-2 pathogens, including Campylobacter jejuni and Streptococcus mutans. Perform a broad range of microbiological, molecular biology, biochemical, and cell-based laboratory techniques using established and modified protocols. Duties/Responsibilities - Laboratory Operations, Administration, and Regulatory Compliance (40%) Coordinate and manage daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant research activities. Duties/Responsibilities - Undergraduate Student Training, Guidance, and Work Coordination (10%) Provide day-to-day guidance, technical instruction, and oversight for undergraduate student researchers working in the laboratory.
