Lab TechnicianCenters Laboratory is currently looking for a Lab Technician in Cedar Knolls, NJ.Position Summary:The Technician is responsible for specimen procurement and specimen preparation for analysis, which includes labeling, pipetting, organizing and maintaining of samples. In addition, he/she performs the maintenance of technical and non-technical equipment and the processing and organizing of all supplies for the Mass Spec Department.Position Responsibilities:To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each responsibility competently. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the responsibility. The responsibilities of a technician include but are not necessarily limited to the following:Processes all testing of urine and blood samples for LCMS, HPLC and ICPMS based assays as per standard operating procedures.Operates and maintains LC/MS/MS, HPLC, and ICPMS analyzers, including instrument setup, troubleshooting and validationsPerforms quality control and calibrations for each lab procedure on a daily basis.Responsible for all Mass spec department duties, including sample preparation, reagent preparation, loading samples on to machine, worklist generation etc.Responsible for all Mass spec QC data entry to plot Levey-JenningsOrganize and maintain lab storage, samples, and specimensRequest and pull samples for pending tests.Registers, retrieves, and discards specimens as appropriate.Oversees and performs for daily temperature and humidity checksAssists in the discarding of specimens into biohazard containers.Sanitize equipment and workspaceFollows all CLIA, HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.Assists with the filing of laboratory recordsOversees the supplies and inventory control for the departmentMaintains the inventory control (packing slips, invoices, etc)Maintains the calibrations for all equipment in the department.Assists with the LIS verification and bi-annual reviewAssists all laboratory staff and leadership with additional duties as neededPerform clerical and administrative duties as neededDemonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.Perform all responsibilities independently with no direct supervision requiredPerform all other duties as assignedCompetencies:Demonstrated leadership ability, strength and diplomacyStrong interpersonal skills and professional demeanorAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingCritical thinking with efficient and effective problem-solving skills.Ability to manage and execute multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.Ability to work well in a team environment that promotes inclusiveness and communication among team members.Education and Experience:Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related Life Science1 year of Toxicology experienceWork Environment:Environmentally controlled laboratory environmentFast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situationsFrequent exposure to body fluidsPossible exposure to infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a laboratory environmentRequired to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate such as lab coats, face shields, gloves and masksFrequent interaction with a diverse population including team members and other customersPhysical Demands:Frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying and speakingOccasional sitting, reaching, bending and stoopingLifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if neededFrequent use of computer, keyboard, phone, and copy and fax machine as needed
