ESS is looking for a motivated and hard-working Lab Technician to join our team. This position works directly with R&D Engineers and Scientists for new product introduction, providing testing support, equipment maintenance, and organization of engineering labs.

What you’ll do at ESS:

  • Assemble test fixtures, test stands, and battery modules following directions from engineers.
  • Perform maintenance of and repairs to test fixtures, test stands and lab equipment
  • Mechanical build/fixes
  • Plumbing build/fixes
  • Simple electrical wiring
  • Sensor replacement and calibration
  • Chemical cleanup (acids/bases, non-hazardous salts)
  • Operate test and related equipment following directions from engineers.
  • Monitor tests, records data, and summarizes/reports for engineers as directed.
  • Install and operate electronic and hydraulic instrumentation for generating test data.
  • Provide general support of operations to other work groups based on level of experience.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and a safe working environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.

What you bring to the table:

Minimum requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by technical school or appropriate college courses.
  • 2 years of working experience in a developmental lab or 2 years of mechanical assembly, repair or maintenance of mechanical equipment is required.
  • Familiar with data collection and entry (MS Excel or other).
  • Canwork from standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a small, dynamic team.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Working knowledge of lab instrumentation and data acquisition.
