Labor Services Representative Trainee 1|2 - Utica (NY HELPS) Apply
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.

70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 14 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

70.4 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Grade 11 or higher and a passing score on Labor Services Representative exam and a bachelors degree *. Note: Candidates must not have failed the most recent examination for this title. Appointments are made at the Trainee 1 level.
55 B/C Qualifications:
This position is designated 55b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Please provide a copy of your 55b/c letter when applying. You must meet the open competitive qualifications from the most recent examination announcement.

Duties Description
Standard Duties:
The Labor Services Representative/Trainee 1/2 will:
The Labor Services Representative/Trainee 1/2 will:
- assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations;
- interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences;
- identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers.
- intensive job placement assistance is key through developing skills-based resume, successful employment interview coaching, providing continuing job leads, conducting employment referrals and advocating for the job seeker when applying for a job;
- provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.
Candidate MAY be allowed to telecommute up to 4 days day per pay period dependent upon operational needs.
Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
