Position: Land Use Associate (3+ years) – Bend, Oregon or Vancouver, Washington

Direct Counsel is seeking a Land Use Associate to join the Real Estate and Natural Resources Department at a prominent Northwest regional law firm. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to land use matters within a dynamic and collaborative team environment while engaging in meaningful projects.

Location: Bend, Oregon, or Vancouver, Washington

Position Overview:
This role is ideal for an attorney with experience in real estate, environmental law, land use, or litigation. Responsibilities will include administrative proceedings, public hearings, and drafting land use applications, with opportunities for business development in related industries.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • At least 3 years of experience in:
    • Real estate, environmental law, land use, administrative law, or litigation.
    • Public hearings and administrative proceedings.
    • General litigation, including briefing and oral advocacy.
    • Appellate briefing and analyzing administrative codes and regulations.
    • Drafting land use applications and researching development feasibility.
  • Excellent academic credentials and professional references.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively.
  • Oregon or Washington State Bar admission or eligibility for reciprocity (required).
  • Interest in business development within the real estate/construction or natural resources industry.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $165,000–$185,000, based on experience and skills.
  • Eligible for discretionary merit bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package available.

Work Environment:

  • In-office work is required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with flexibility for remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
