Position Overview
The Landscape Designer / Sales Professional serves as the primary contact for design/build clients, guiding projects from initial consultation through final installation. This role blends creative design expertise with strong sales ability, project coordination, and relationship management.
The ideal candidate is both a skilled designer and confident sales professional who can develop conceptual plans, present proposals, close projects, and collaborate closely with operations to ensure successful execution. This position plays a critical role in driving revenue growth while delivering an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Client Development & Sales
- Generate and qualify leads to build and maintain a strong sales pipeline
- Cultivate relationships with homeowners and commercial clients to drive new business
- Conduct on-site consultations to assess client needs, site conditions, and project feasibility
- Develop and present compelling design concepts and sales proposals
- Close projects and manage client expectations throughout the sales and installation process
- Identify and sell enhancement opportunities to improve project scope and client outcomes
- Accurately track and report sales activities and pipeline progress
Design & Estimating
- Create conceptual landscape designs, layout plans, and supporting documentation
- Prepare detailed proposals and cost estimates
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
- Ensure design intent aligns with budget parameters and client expectations
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with operations, production teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution
- Conduct site visits during installation to verify quality, progress, and adherence to design
- Address client questions or concerns promptly and professionally
- Ensure projects meet established standards for craftsmanship, scheduling, and profitability
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams to align sales commitments with operational capabilities
- Support company initiatives that enhance service delivery and growth
- Contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented team culture
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscape design within a design/build environment
- Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial landscape construction practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field preferred
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong time management and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with internal teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD (or similar design software), and CRM systems
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
