East County Large and Small Animal Practice is a busy 5-doctor veterinary hospital in East San Diego County, looking for a Large Animal Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our hardworking and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with large animals like horses, cattle, sheep, and goats while growing your skills in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with exams, procedures, x-rays, ultrasounds, and scopes.
- Handle and restrain large animals, including haltering, jogging, and lunging horses.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, including fecal tests and bloodwork.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, including cleaning instruments, stocking vet trucks, and sterilizing equipment.
- Support day-to-day operations with tasks such as laundry, data entry, and client communication.
Qualifications:
- Experience or comfort handling large animals (e.g., horses, cattle, sheep, goats).
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 6+ hours, and assist with procedures requiring agility.
- Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record.
