Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM  |  Reports To: Revenue Cycle Manager

About the Role

Build Accuracy. Drive Clarity. Power Care.

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Medical Billing Specialist to support the financial operations that make their mission possible — helping children and families thrive.

You'll play a key role in ensuring that billing, claims, and payments are handled with precision, professionalism, and care. As a senior member of the billing team, you'll manage complex cases, guide colleagues, and help maintain the accuracy and efficiency that keep a multi-disciplinary pediatric practice running smoothly.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and oversee daily billing operations for therapy services, ensuring timely and accurate claim submission and reimbursement
  • Review, prepare, and submit complex insurance claims while supporting team members with escalated billing issues and claim resolution
  • Monitor accounts receivable, analyze aging reports, and drive follow-up efforts on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for billing staff questions, providing training, coaching, and ongoing support to improve team performance and accuracy
  • Coordinate insurance verification, benefits review, pre-authorizations, and documentation requirements to minimize claim delays and denials
  • Collaborate with insurance carriers to resolve claim discrepancies, appeals, and payment issues efficiently
  • Communicate professionally with patients regarding balances, billing concerns, payment plans, and insurance-related questions
  • Maintain accurate records of billing activity, payments, adjustments, and correspondence in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing workflows, reporting, and revenue cycle efficiency, making recommendations to leadership
  • Stay informed on payer regulations, billing requirements, coding updates, and compliance standards, ensuring the billing team remains current and aligned
  • Partner closely with therapists, administrative staff, and leadership to support operational and financial goals

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of medical billing experience, preferably in behavioral health, therapy, or healthcare settings
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience within a billing or revenue cycle team strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance verification, claim submission, denials management, appeals, pre-authorizations, and accounts receivable processes
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and payer regulations
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support both patients and internal staff professionally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and lead collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with EHR and medical billing software systems preferred
  • Preferred: Associate degree or certification in medical billing and coding

What Our Client Offers

  • Competitive pay and benefits package
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (with HSA option)
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous paid time off and holidays
  • Ongoing professional development and advancement opportunities
  • A collaborative culture that values integrity, accuracy, and impact

Why Our Client?

Every role contributes directly to the quality of care delivered. Join a mission-driven team and help ensure every claim — and every family — is cared for with excellence.
