Roots Decks and Remodels is hiring a Lead Carpenter to join our crew of high-quality remodelers in New York State. Learn more about us at: our new Lead Carpenter, you'll play a key role on a variety of residential remodeling projects from decks and lake stairs to kitchen and bath overhauls. You'll work hands-on while leading a small crew, ensuring projects run smoothly, efficiently, and up to our high standards. This is a leadership position for someone who's equally comfortable swinging a hammer and coordinating a team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Frame, install, and finish high-quality residential structures and remodels
  • Lead a small team on-site, ensuring timelines, safety, and craftsmanship standards are met
  • Solve problems in real time and make confident decisions in the field
  • Communicate clearly with clients and coworkers to build trust and keep everyone aligned
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized worksites
  • Track jobsite needs and coordinate with the office to prevent delays

Qualifications

  • At least 5 to 8 years of residential carpentry or remodeling experience is required
  • Prior experience in a leadership or crew lead role strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in framing, finish work, and exterior carpentry
  • Strong communication skills and a respectful, team-first mindset
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • A growth mindset and desire to lead, learn, and deliver excellent results

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time position, 45 to 50 hours per week
  • Competitive hourly rate at $25.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Overtime pay provided for hours worked beyond 40 hours a week, in compliance with NY State law
  • Flexible scheduling options
