Overview
The Lead Control Systems Engineer is responsible for collaborating directly with clients to define functional requirements and to lead the design, configuration, commissioning, and qualification of industrial control systems. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on programming, and system integration in dynamic project environments.
 
Key Responsibilities
•    Lead and execute control system projects with small to mid-sized engineering teams across multiple platforms.
•    Support Project Managers in identifying changes in project scope and preparing corresponding change orders.
•    Understand and manage project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
•    Translate customer specifications and functional requirements into effective system configurations.
•    Design control system network architectures and implement robust control strategies.
•    Serve as a primary technical liaison with clients throughout project execution.
•    Demonstrate strong technical expertise in at least one major control system platform or industrial process.
•    Quickly adapt to new tools and technologies, applying learned concepts effectively in project work.
 
Day-to-Day Activities
•    Attend and contribute to client design meetings and technical discussions.
•    Guide and mentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with project managers and lead engineers.
•    Program and configure control systems using platforms such as Rockwell and Siemens.
•    Design and specify electrical control panels and enclosures.
•    Test system configurations to ensure functional and quality standards are met.
•    Travel to client sites for design reviews, project meetings, and system commissioning activities.
 
Qualifications
•    2–8 years of experience in automation or control systems engineering.
•    Proficiency in one or more of the following control system platforms:
o    Rockwell ControlLogix
o    Rockwell PlantPAx
o    Rockwell FactoryTalk View/Studio
•    Experience with additional platforms (e.g., Siemens) is a plus.
•    Strong foundation in control system architecture, design, and coding principles.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; highly self-motivated and team-oriented.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
