Position Summary

Underthe direction of the Manager of Custodial Services, the Lead Custodian is responsible for working side-by-side and leading individuals andcrews performing building cleaning assignments. This position also assists the Custodial Supervisor with inventory control and distributionof supplies.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated HiringRange: $3,514 per month - $4,186 per month; commensurate with the candidate's education, experience, skills, andtraining.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,514 per month - $5,773 per month

Department Information

Custodial Services is responsible for cleaning activitiesin all general-fund supported university facilities. This professional staff maintains a safe and healthy setting for students, faculty,staff and guests in pursuit of our education mission. Typical services include:
  • Carpet cleaning & spot removal
  • Sanitizing
  • Floor care
  • Stocking sanitary supplies
  • Collecting and disposing of refuse
  • Emergencycleanups

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

Working knowledge of the methods, chemicals, and equipment used in custodial work and of thesafety and sanitation practices and measures; and effective lead/supervisory practices andtechniques.

Abilities:

Ability to provide lead work direction, including training others in proper workmethods and safety and providing feedback on work performance; read and write English at a level appropriate to the duties of the position;use computers to track work orders and order supplies and materials; establish, promote and maintain cooperative work relationships withothers; and analyze situations and take appropriate action.

Experience:

Equivalent to one to two years ofrelated custodial experience and providing on-the-job training and leadership to others.

License:

Somepositions may require possession of a valid California driver's license.

  1. Abilityto follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
  2. Ability to observe safety requirements and safe work practices andmethods.
  3. Ability to perform work involving regular physical activity.
  4. Ability to operate and care for custodial equipmentand supplies applicable to the position.

License Requirements:
