Position Area:
Las Vegas, Nevada
Qualifications Required:
Work experience in one or more of the following:
- Heavy equipment operator, operating modern heavy equipment used in the construction industry.
- Experience in teaching preventative maintenance, safety, soils, print reading, grade work, and supervision.
- Experience using computer software, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as online applications.
Demonstrated effective communication in teaching/learning situations.
Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a wide variety of students.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner in a team-oriented environment.
Duties:
The Heavy Equipment Operator Instructor will facilitate the certificate for CORE Craft Skills and Heavy Equipment Operator curriculum according to the guidelines of the Dig This Academy program and the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) guidelines. The position will be full time . Instruction will include but not limited to: hands-on class activities, lecture, field trips and online training modules. Dig This attraction may need assistance from time to time.
Duties include:
- Teach the CORE Craft Skills and Heavy Equipment Operator course(s).
- The successful candidate must have experience in NCCER training , use the NCCER CORE Craft Skills and Heavy Equipment Operators curriculum and participate in program assessment.
- Work with program coordinators in purchasing course material.
- Provide daily lesson plans for instruction
- Create assessments and in-class projects.
- Supervise and evaluate students as they perform projects.
- Record grades, attendance, and progress in completing certification.
- Communicate with program coordinators regarding student progress, feedback, and certification.
- Maintain availability outside of class hours for questions, emails, or additional support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage and trian other instructors
- Co-ordinate with Academy Director.
Salary:
Dependent on academic qualifications and previous work experience.
