The Maintenance technician group leader is a position intended to support production with a primary focus on operations in final inspection and thin films providing additional support as needed throughout the operation. The lead maintenance technician will work closely with the maintenance department lead to coordinate daily objectives and tasks, working towards meeting KPI targets, and driving continuous improvement implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day work direction and guidance to the maintenance technician team with a dedicated focus on the timely completion of work orders (PMS), reduction in equipment downtime, eliminating product quality issues caused by improper machine setup, and correcting improper machine set-ups causing false failures or product loss.
  • Develop the skills of the maintenance technicians by providing on-the-job trainings and creating any necessary training procedures and documentation with a focus on utilizing TWI job instruction methods when applicable.
  • Ensure technicians are properly trained, verify job performance standards are being met, and work to resolve any issues or conflicts that might arise within the team by utilizing TWI job relations methods.
  • Oversee the accuracy of records for completed work orders, equipment downtime data including reported machine state, and all other tracking records related to equipment maintenance.
  • Review maintenance KPIs on a regular basis with department lead and work together to develop and implement strategies to better KPI metrics.
  • Provide high-level troubleshooting support on all equipment.
  • Provide support and backup to department lead with PM work planning and scheduling. Release, close, edit, and organize work orders, as well as modifying programmed maintenance plans, as needed.
  • Work with department lead to establish and administer or modify maintenance programs, spare parts, and training of all new and existing equipment used in the production. Track PM effectiveness and train technicians to PM tasks.
  • Monitor spare part inventories and flag inventory level changes needed when necessary and set-up new spare parts as needed.
  • Provide effective communication to the appropriate staff members within the operations, engineering, and the maintenance teams when necessary.
  • Required to participate in on-call duty rotation.
  • Communicates with equipment OEMs and vendors as needed to expedite troubleshooting, repairs, and spare part procurement.
  • Occasionally required to work nights and weekends as needed to train and coordinate with off shift technicians. (flexible schedule)
  • Collect and/or move hazardous waste to storage area:
  • Notify designated personnel of any irregularities in materials, process, equipment or environmental or safety infractions.
  • Perform each phase of the operation in compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Associates or bachelors degree in technical field preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance roll or similar technical roll.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Must have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Familiar with electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulic, and controls systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of computer and database systems (i.e. SQL, and IoT platforms)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities, managing multiple priorities at a time.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 12-hour shifts.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrating the initiative and drive to surpass performance expectations.
